A new building dedicated exclusively to the treatment of chemical dependence and alcohol will be implanted by the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP, linked to the State Department of Health. With 40 beds, the site will also house a unit of the Center for Psychosocial Attention (Caps- ad), which will serve 25 patients of high complexity per day, and a unit of the Specialized Referral Center of Social Assistance (Creas), which will receive 14 families daily.
According to the specialist in treatment of chemical dependencies of the Institute of Psychiatry of HC, Arthur Guerra de Andrade, the objective is that the new space be a reference in the formulation of national public policies, conducting research and treatment.
"The focus can not only be on the doctor, but also on social care. The medical intervention is more effective when you have a social diagnosis of the patient, "says the psychiatrist, noting that hospitalization should be used only in the latter case.
To trace this social diagnosis, the center will have multidisciplinary teams, with social workers, nurses and psychologists, responsible for knowing the social scenario of the patient: if he has a job, family, who are the friends and if the use of drugs and alcohol part of his day-to-day life.
"This team will play a key role in preventing relapses," said Arthur Guerra, adding that these professionals will be hired by the HC through the state-approved multiprofessional residency program at the end of last year. "They will be young residents, acting in ways similar to the Medical Residence," he explains.
For the implementation of the building, about R $ 11 million are already committed, through a partnership with the National Secretariat for Policy on Drugs (Senad. The resources will be exclusive to the works and another R $ 400,000 per year are planned for maintenance "We are finalizing the project and in March the bidding documents will have to be launched," says the specialist, noting that works are expected to begin by the end of this year. "The total deployment will be done in a year and a half after the beginning of works ".
The building, which will also have offices, research centers, classrooms and meeting rooms for family members, should be implanted in an area of 3 thousand square meters, next to the Hospital das Clínicas. Another Collaborating Center, similar to this one of São Paulo, should be implanted in the Hospital of Clinics of Porto Alegre. "The same partnership with Senad was signed in Rio Grande do Sul," says Arthur Guerra.
